it's the holidays, I'm baking (cookies)

It's Christmas Eve, SANTA IS COMING.

I was informed by those of you on instagram that cooking posts would be favorably received. I can't really cook, but there are a few photo-worthy things I can churn out, so I figured it was worth a shot. Especially because we're almost upon a new year, and if this goes terribly wrong, we can just leave it in 2017 along with fanny packs and most of our politicians.

If you're like me,  right now you're probably pressed for time, baking abilities, and holiday spirit, but the show must go on, and you need something for the neighbors/postman/people who work at Target and help you find the cinnamon rolls. Here's a recipe for the quickest and yummiest cookies you could ever bring to the party.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Four (yes four) sticks of butter, as cold as possible
2. One cup-ish of brown sugar
3. Four and a half cups of flour

BEFORE YOU START:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, flour a cutting board, and put a damp towel under that thing so it doesn't slide.

1. Cut the butter into slices or just throw the whole stick in a mixer with the sugar.

2. Let it get a lil creamy and then just start dumping in the flour. Warning: it will probably get everywhere.

3. Roll out the dough on a floured cutting board and get to work with your cookie cutters. Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, you will probably end up with anywhere from a ton of cookies to not as many.

4. Put the cookies on a cookie pan/light skillet/whatever you bake in, and pop them in for 15 minutes. Set a timer.

5. Take them out when the alarm goes off. Do not say "oh they could use another five minutes". They do not need another five minutes unless you need hard little cookie shaped bricks.

Et voila, you have charming little cookies. Now put on your sweater and your smile, and crank up the carols, because saaaaanta claus is coming to town. (Along with your relatives.)

Tell me what I want to hear. Or what you want to say.

Just remember:

If you're mean, I'll track you down and replace all your shoes with those hideous white tennis things that are so popular among the very sad.
